Why is this? It's because the MODE button switches a 6-button controller to 3-button mode if it is held down when power is first applied. And just as things were looking grim, who should ride into town but 4 men who have made a pact: to put down Sir Richard Rose and make the Wild West a free and peaceful place to live. Sunset Riders now works fine and won't go into retard mode. At any time after the Genesis/Mega Drive is fully on (LED on the system is lit, etc), let go of the MODE button. While still holding it down, turn your Genesis/Mega Drive on. Method # 2 - Find the MODE button on your 6-button controller and hold it down before you turn the power on to your Genesis/Mega Drive. Sunset Riders was designed for this and won't freak out. There are two ways to accomplish this and I have detailed both methods in this FAQ. However there is a simple fix that will make YOUR copy of Sunset Riders work perfectly. Switching the difficulty to EASY won't make the Game Over screen appear any later. Instead it will give you the Game Over screen when you start the game which really insults your skills. Bounty hunters Steve, Billy, Bob and Cormano learn that Dark Horse is terrorizing a town. Due to his crimes, a bounty of 30,000 was placed onto him. Dark Horse earned his name by pillaging towns while riding his horse. Steve, Bob, Billy, and Cormano are the Sunset Riders, and they're about to live out the wildest shootout the Wild West has ever seen. Dark Horse is the third boss from Sunset Riders.
